-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Still trying to track down the cause of this problem (SA Skipping certain messages). I did a little investigation and eneded up having to reboot my server because things got so screwed up. First I an spamc from procmail with ' -t 120'. That may have been my first mistake. Second I uped the timouts on all the third party checks to 30 seconds.
FTR, I was using rc3 with great success - a few random messages being skipped. Rc4 wracked havoc with my system starting by deleting my local.cf file. Anyway, After I did all this something caused spamd or spamc to fork, runaway, or for lack of better words, go crazy. After I turned on logging I got a ton of these: Sep 12 19:31:48 fat_man spamc[96054]: connect() to spamd at 127.0.0.1 failed, retrying (3/3): Invalid argument I can mail the full log but its about 300k. Something related to spamc or spamd was working in the background using up a lot of memory and causing a lot of problems...lots of other services were getting killed. That probably has to do with my setting -t 120, but this was happening before I set that as well. It just got really bad after I set that. To stop the problem and regain control, I killed everything -- perl, sendmail, and of course SA. After I killed all of those I did a tail - -f on my mail log to see if everything had stopped....It didn't. Some hidden spamc or spamd was still logging the error above over and over into the log. I couldn't find anything in a ps-aux or in top. I couldn't find where theses were coming from. Then my pop server died and I was unable to bring it back up. I rebooted, went back to 2.55 and all seems ok now. But something isn't right here. - ------------------------------ Mike Loiterman grantADLER Tel: 630-302-4944 Fax: 773-868-0071 Email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] PGP Key 0xD1B9D18E -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: PGP 8.0.2 Comment: This message has been digitally signed by Mike Loiterman iQA/AwUBP2Jx0WjZbUnRudGOEQIubQCcDiOe693e8W1LIpaTWi1nO27pIioAoPD0 DZG3mfzzuA1EfroWQmnzN+/U =6FSG -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Spamassassin-talk mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/spamassassin-talk
