Whats causing the 3X difference in msg scanning?
Are you using _ANY_ network checks? DNS blacklists, razor2, dcc, pyzor, etc all have wildly varying times because they are heavily dependant on the load at the remote server and the load of every internet link between you and them.
Quite frankly, those times seem absurdly high to me. Anything over 1 second for a message is often tied to a network timeout.
Without bayes or network, SA is VERY fast by comparison to the numbers you posted. On a 500mhz machine or better a 10k message should be less than 0.1 seconds to process.
