OK, since noone could offer any ideas, just for kicks I renamed the
bayes* files from the .spamassassin directory and fed it my ham and spam
archives again.

This time it learned 154 out of 156 spam emails submitted so it looks
like it is working now!

Can anyone explain why deleting the database seemed to fix it's
learning? Is it just a corrupt database or something I am liable to hit
again further down the track?
