I have a freebsd 4.7 mail server with qmail, courier-imap, and spamassassin 2.56
installed from the ports collection. The default of 'required_hits 5' I need to
change to 7 or so. The trouble is I don't have a local.cf file and I have 100+
virtual users so $home/.spamassassin/user_prefs is out of the question. I have some
spamassassin directories here:
/usr/local/share/spamassassin /usr/local/etc/mail/spamassassin
but not here:
/etc/spamassassin /usr/share/spamassassin
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
/usr/local/etc/mail/spamassassin is an acceptable location for local.cf.
SA actually checks several directories for local config files and uses the first one it finds that exists.
You can check for sure what path SA is using by running spamassassin -D <sample-spam.txt. The top of the debug output should mention what site config directory it is using.
