If you plan to use Bayesian classification (the BAYES rules) with spamd, you will need to either
1. modify /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf to use a shared database of tokens, by setting the 'bayes_path' setting to a path all users can read and write to. You will also need to set the 'bayes_file_mode' setting to 0666 so that created files are shared, too.
2. Alternatively, let the users train their individual Bayes database.
i didn't do either of these things when i started out, yet i and another user seem to be getting separate bayes_seen and bayes_toks databases automatically built in our $HOME/.spamassassin directories.
is this because spamd is running as root and can create separate dbs?
or does this mean that the databases will build fine but spamd will be unable to access them once they are full enough? (i haven't hit the magic 200/200 mark yet)
either way, i think the doc could be clarified. let me know if you need help writing it, i used to be a technical writer a few jobs back. :)
