Just got a sales pitch today by phone followed up by email from these guys:
http://www.death2spam.net.nz/
Anybody else heard of them ? Their system claims to be based on Bayesian filtering and claims to be a lot more effective than 6 other spam filtering programs (including SpamAssassin) according to a pretty little bar graph.
I have some serious doubts about some of their claims though, as that particular graph was showing "Out of the Box effectiveness" and we all know that a pure Bayesian filter has no out of the box effectiveness until its been trained ;-)
Also the filters its being compared against have no details on what version they are or what options are enabled etc, for example for the stats for SpamAssassin, it just says "SpamAssassin" with no indication of what version it was, whether network tests and/or bayes were enabled etc, all critical information...
The stats shown for Spamassassin definately dont ring true, for example they're claiming an "Accuracy" of 78.8% for SpamAssassin and 100% for their system... (yeah right :) Whereas I've found SpamAssassin's accuracy to be up in the 90's...
Oh yeah, it claims to be written in Java too.. :)
I don't think I'll be switching away from SpamAssassin any time soon...
Comments anyone ?
Regards, Simon
