I’m encountering make problems with both the perl Makefile.PL and the CPAN shell installation
approaches. CPAN shell tells me that it cannot find pod2man in my path
even though it’s in /usr/bin and runs when I
type pod2man to my shell. I’ve installed all of the other modules listed
in INSTALL hoping to fix the problem, and reloaded cpan,
but no luck. Makefile.PL does create the makefile,
but the make command itself dies with a “missing separator” error
at line 53. That line has only the word “sit”. Can anyone advise as to what I should look at or do to solve
one of these problems? Also how do I “clean out” CPAN and start over
with that install? Sorry. I’m new to using the cpan
shell, and have tried removing it by removing the .cpan
directory – didn’t remove cpan. I’d
like to remove and rebuild b/c cpan insists on trying
to install SpamAssassin 2.55 rather than the 2.60
that I’ve downloaded. Thus I think that my Metadata is old (…why I
deleted and deleted and finally killed the .cpan
directory entirely). I prefer to install .60 rather than .55. Thanks, Robert Shelton |
