Good Morning Folks,
Well, after fighting with it longer than I care to admit, I do believe
I now have a working Postfix/SpamAssassin/Amavisd system. What I am
trying to do now, is configure the system wide (and eventually on a per
user basis) a way to bounce mail. Currently email that is spam is just
flagged. Our president wants to bounce it.
Note: I personally am of the opinion that those who choose to bounce don't understand email systems very well, and would prefer to offload problems elsewhere instead of fixing them.
That said, spamassassin itself cannot be configured to bounce mail.. This isn't a lack of feature, it's a consequence of what spamassassin is. It's a mail filter, and as such, it has no ability to do anything other than change the contents of a message. It cannot delete, bounce, redirect or otherwise change the parameters of message delivery.
Now many tools can be configured to bounce, delete, etc the messages that SA has tagged, but that's a question about how to configure those tools, not how to configure spamassassin. I *think* amavisd can do this, but you'll have to ask the amavis users about that.
