I am using spamassassin version 2.55 on a SuSE linux 8.2 machine. It is invoked by procmail. I have required_hits set to 3 in ~/.spamassassin/user_prefs, and this works fine all day.
But overnight something is setting required_hits to 8. My user_prefs file is not modified when this happens. Here are some headers from mail I received last night: *********************************************************************** X-Spam-Status: Yes, hits=9.1 required=8.0 tests=BAYES_90,HTML_40_50,HTML_FONT_BIG,HTML_FONT_COLOR_RED, MIME_HTML_ONLY,RCVD_IN_DSBL,SATISFACTION version=2.55 X-Spam-Level: ********* X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) ************************************************************************* and here are the same lines from spam received yesterday: **************************************************************************** X-Spam-Status: Yes, hits=3.0 required=3.0 tests=DATE_IN_PAST_03_06,HTML_60_70,HTML_IMAGE_ONLY_02, HTML_MESSAGE,MIME_HTML_ONLY version=2.55 X-Spam-Level: *** X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.55 (1.174.2.19-2003-05-19-exp) ************************************************************************** What could be making the change in required_hits?
