Well, personally I don't ignore questions from any version.. Unless it's something I really don't know the answer for and am too lazy to dig up an ancient copy of SA to find the answer for. In which case I won't answer at all unless they start reposting and wondering why nobody is answering.

Bug reports on the other hand, should be flat out ignored unless they can be demonstrated to be present in the current version.

After all, what good is reporting a bug in an old version without verifying if it's in the current release?

If it's fixed, there's nothing to do, and all the bug report serves to do is wasting developer time to verify that yes it is indeed fixed in the current release. Since the SADevs are already a bit under-staffed as it is, they really don't have the time to go chasing bug reports against older releases. They need our help to categorize the bugs that are in fact an issue with the current code.

And for the record.. I also run 2.43 on a production server, but I also realize it's limitations and always verify any bugs or problems against 2.55.. (yes, I have 2.55 on a separate box) Personaly I think that 2.55 has a weak ruleset, but that's mostly offset by the bayes db.. if you're not willing to train bayes however, 2.5x is pretty weak.

(of course, anyone running 2.43 better not be using spamd unless they wish to be exploited)

Feel free to yell at me all you like from the privacy of your own desk, but

'Twasn't Matt I was concerned with. :-)

I don't mind people who include the answer along with a gentle suggestion
that I "done wrong".

Good to see you read my email as intended... my style is sometimes a bit short to the point people mis-read me as snappy or condescending. Little do they realize that when I mean to be insulting I'm usually quite clear about it, and they'd be lucky to escape with me merely calling them a completely worthless dumbass.
