I don't claim to be an expert at regex or file globbing, but here is a 
sample from my user_prefs file:

whitelist_from *arrl.org
whitelist_from *MAIL.CNN.COM
whitelist_from *techtv.com
whitelist_to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
whitelist_to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I have not tried using more than one wildcard per line.
