How about amavisd-new? Not using it, but afaik it is something like that.
Kind of reverse proxy for smtp, optionally scanning viruses and spam (using
spamassassin).




Does it work with spamc? or a spamc-like front end, where you can specify a range of IP addresses that are going to do the spam/virus scanning for you (like the way you can have multiple hosts running spamd)?



I always thought the amavisd family were sendmail milters ... that's not at all what I'm looking for. (I'm not looking for something in the general conceptual category as what I said, I meant very specifically that I remember hearing that spamd was going to be spun off into its own project, and that it was going to be expanded to cover more than just spamassassin scanning; I'm looking to confirm or refute that exact piece of information)
