if you want to do scan for virus with clam av scan with spamassassin
there's an excelllent how-to here for use with the exim mail server: http://www.timj.co.uk/linux/exim.php
forwarding to an exchange server shouldn't be hard on any system
i just switched over to exim from postfix - and both are really good MTAs
in terms of *nix, i strongly favor debian -- but am forced to use redhat at work

I have been running mail servers for several of our clients with spamassassin for several months. Now a client that has an exchange server want to clean up thier email but pass the mail thru to the exchange server. I have seen several discussions the lead me to believe that this is not an uncommon setup here on the list.
Which would be your recomendations for linux distro which mailer is reasonably secure easy to keep secure
scan for virus with clam av
scan with spamassassin
then forward to exchange server
note - I have only used e-smith (based on redhat with qmail)
but since they don't want the file server and web server parts I was thinking of using something else.
