Hello,
I have an interest in setting up Bayes testing. I am concerned about the
consistent mention of increased resource usage when running Bayes. Can I
get some idea of how much Bayes will increase my servers load?
Thanks,
We run a setup similar to yours but with everyone subscribed to SA but with a default score of 15.
AMD 1400+ Duron
512 meg
IDE UDMA 133 drives (/var and /home are mounted on seperate drives, on seperate controllers)
About 4K local users
About 110K processed messages and 50 - 55K local deliveries per day.
Normal server load is about 0.88 (actually, you can see it here http://newmail.axess.com/qmailmrtg/newmail_cpu.html )
When the SA process runs to update the bayes db, the load normally jumps up to 1.x or even 3.x for about 2 minutes or so. If mrtg or isoqlog happens to run at the same time it goes a bit higher.
Over all no problems yet, but we are moving spamd off to it's own server soon.
Regards,
Rick
