Sure: install DB_File. :) The slightly longer explanation is that you're running 2.60 which has a new Bayes DB format. The "magic" tokens (keeps track of number of ham/spam/tokens, expiry info, etc) use control characters since no message tokens can have control characters. Unfortunately, and unbeknownst to me when coming up with the magic token key values, it seems only DB_File allows for control chars.
