I'm attempting to run SA 2.55 after a manual install.  I'm running qmail with vpopmail with sql support for user and domain info.
I've installed everything from the docs and from the FAQs, and am using qmail-scanner with spamassassin support to get and tag the mail.

spamd appears to be running in the processor list, but doesn't show to be listening when I run a netstat -anp.  It does appear as a process like this:
"/usr/bin/perl /usr/bin/spamd -x -u spamd -H /home/spamd -d -D"

My message headers show the presence of SA, but it doesn't register a score at all and the runtimes are way too fast.

Running spamassassin directly with the sample messages does work, and the correct log entry is placed in /var/log/maillog...however nothing is logged when normal mail delivery occurs.  I have report_header enabled as well as terse_reports off.  I've also tried always_add_report being active to see if I could generate an entry.  No luck.

I've installed this correctly before on the same setup, and can't think of anything I did differently this time (even had notes).  Delivery is successful, so qmail-scanner must be working, but spamc probably isn't getting called to actually look at the mail.

Any suggestions on how I can check/make spamd run correctly and see if I can't get spamassassin to work the right way?  I don't see any errors is /var/log/messages and it claims spamd has started up successfully, but I don't think that seems to be the case.

Thanks...
