I have Qmail1.03 running on a RedHat9 build. I am new to linux and was very excited when I got it going last week; however, I now want to rid my inbox of this annoying spam. I have been parusing all the readme files in the Mail-SpamAssassin-2.55 distribtion to figure out hot to go about the install. From what I've gathered the easiest way to implement SpamAssassin is to use John Peacock's QMAILQUEUE...Then spamd, and spamc would coexist with Qmail and take care of the SPAM...Does this sound right? I'm really looking for suggestions, or confirmation.
/The README.qmail says this:/
*From a system startup file (like /etc/profile), set QMAILQUEUE like this:
export QMAILQUEUE='/usr/bin/qmail-spamc'*
/And this:/
*and add a similar line to the run script for the smtpd service. If you are using the recommended daemontools installation, you can do something like this instead:
echo /usr/bin/qmail-spamc > /service/smtpd/env/QMAILQUEUE*
/Then the last sentence states:/
*You will have to have both qmail-queue and spamc in a directory in the system PATH in order for this to work correctly. *
I checked the /etc/profile file and did not find any entries for export QMAILQUEUE, is it true that I Can simply add the above line anywhere in this file?
Also, the echo /usr/bin/qmail-spmac line, all I do is add this to the smtpd run script file right?
I'm a little but leary about the last sentence. *You will

in order for this to work correctly. *What is this last sentence saying? How do I do this?
Sorry If someof these answers are obvious, again, I'm new at linux. Any help would be great.
