That seems par for the course - between Cyrus and LDAP, it seems nobody can/will explain how to set up either of these from scratch. I'm slowly trying to build an Postfix-Cyrus-LDAP system and the documentation is either ancient, non-existent, or incompatible with SuSE 8.2. Granted, I probably have no business trying to implement this by myself on a home network[1] but still, the lack of usable howtos for Cyrus & LDAP is saddening.
1: There's a new O'Reilly book about LDAP where the above minus the Cyrus gets miniscule coverage in a bit of a chapter (that bit can be downloaded from the o'Reilly site). The author's Jerry (Grant? Wiped my mai, so can't look it up there);
2: I have a *test* setup for Postfix 2.0.10/Openldap 2.1.19/UW-imap 2003 using Amavisd, if that's any help. You're welcome to my master.cf and main.cf - most annotations stripped.
