Aha... my cron job was not quite right; it was only doing a --force-expire
on the hour when there had been spam/ham learned. I've set it to do it every
hour regardless. Hopefully then amavisd-new won't cause SA to run an
opportunistic scan.

We shall see!

I hope this works, because life without Bayes has not been fun.
