Hi, I'm using a similar setup (assuming you're using amavisd-new) and
was likewise a little confused at first about how to get started.

It turns out amavisd-new just overrides a small set of settings.

Other SA settings should be configured as usual, in whatever
directory your SpamAssassin local.cf resides in. Usually that's
something like /etc/mail/spamassassin; you can put settings directly
into the local.cf file or create multiple .cf files there and
SpamAssassin will read them.

You need to send a SIGHUP to the master amavisd process as root to
make it reinitialize itself and reread the SpamAssassin settings. I.e.
if the master is pid 98765,
# kill -HUP 98765.

  She doesn't say anything else.
