It seems, that I did something like the same, but I did NOT
get your Problem because I run 'spamd' and pipe alle the
Mails trough 'spamc' instead of 'spamassassin -P' (which
by the way is a lot faster per email without the perl-startup).

What I only now (lately) noticed ist, that 'spamc' imposes
a size-limit on the Mail it scans, so I never even 'noticed'
the problem but a few too large mails may have gone through
unchecked :-)
