This is not the first of these messages.
This is not the last of these messages.

But why does these messages feel like a "troll?" Primarily because the
post that would seem to be prompting your question (the 1/31/03 10:59
one by ctaite) is based on a completely unfounded understanding of
SpamAssassin.

Spamassassin is stagnant the same exact way that Symantec Anti-Virus is
stagnant; if you don't update the rules, some stuff'll get through.

Furthermore, the proportion of "smart" spammers versus "spammers" is
roughly the same as the rest of the population; you can vary your
definition of smart, but most people would agree that "smart" is the
minority. SA isn't able to stop 'all' spam- that's acknowledged. But it
has a -very- good ratio of stopping spam versus letting it through. Even
if it stopped all the average and dumb spammers, that's a pretty good
hit ratio.

Frankly, bringing this to the list and asking for commentary is
insulting to the people here on the basis of your ignorance of their
work, it smells like someone trying to stir up anxiety and activity, and
it shows how little you value your own skills as a debator on that forum
you point to. And while that's directed particularily at the latest
troll- it can also be generalized to point to all similar people who
come here with "what's your reaction to 'the SA technology is dead and
all the programmers are buried'."
