Did you try asking Google first? The first two hits for "aol spamassassin"
include (in the sample text even!) "Will SpamAssassin Pro work with AOL? No."
While it is possible to use SpamAssassin with an AOL email account, it is
extremely hasstletastic. You could screen-scrape the AOL webmail interface and
pass the messages through procmail and spamassassin, but I'm pretty sure that
if you're using AOL this is going to be more work than you're interested in.
Your solutions are:
(1) Contact AOL and tell them to enable you to use standard mail protocols
(2) switch to an ISP that allows you to use standard mail protocols
