Yes, the list is open to posts from non-subscribers.

However, to run a closed list for technical support issues is not a viable option either.

I don't think sourceforge will drop a subscription based on one or two 550's but that's really a sourceforge issue, not a SA issue.

Read the archives, if you have any suggestions for how to improve it that might work and haven't already been discussed to death, I think it might be worth posting. However, most possible topics of this issue has been discussed to death.


Also it would be a valid point that even if the list is closed, you'll still be getting people posting to the list and quoting their spam when discussing problems.

So even if all genuine spammers are prevented from posting to the list, your 550's will still happen with approximately the same frequency. (In my experience the amount of genuine spam posted to this list is much lower than high scoring nonspam emails which are quoting parts of spam while talking about rule issues)
