I am using SpamAssassin 2.44 and SpamAss-Milter 0.1.3a with Sendmail 8.12.3. Everything is working perfectly for the most part. I recently turned off the RBL checking in Sendmail and turned on the checking in SpamAssassin. I like the more granular control over RBLs in SpamAssassin isntead of the black and white reject/accept method used by Sendmail.
Anyway, I notice messages getting through and they are definitely coming from an IP address that is on an RBL that SpamAssassin should check. It works some times but not most of the time. For example, a message was delivered to my server from IP 200.199.64.141. This address is blacklisted on OSIRU, DSBL, SPAMCOP, and many others. However, no RBLs are listed in the SpamAssassin report. (And yes, I have enabled SPAMCOP by setting a score of 4.) I know the RBL functionality works some times because RBL checks are sometimes listed in the SpamAssassin report. Here's the report from the message that came through on that IP: tests=BAD_CREDIT,BE_AMAZED,BE_BOSS,BIG_FONT,COMPLETELY_FREE, CTYPE_JUST_HTML,DATE_IN_PAST_12_24,DEAR_SOMEBODY,DIET, FORGED_AOL_RCVD,FOR_FREE,FREE_GRANT,FREE_MONEY, FROM_ENDS_IN_NUMS,GUARANTEE,HOME_EMPLOYMENT, HTML_FONT_COLOR_BLUE,HTML_FONT_COLOR_RED, HTML_FONT_FACE_ODD,LINES_OF_YELLING,MISSING_MIMEOLE, MONEY_BACK,MORTGAGE_OBFU,NORMAL_HTTP_TO_IP,NO_QS_ASKED, NO_REAL_NAME,ONLY_COST,ORDER_NOW,RISK_FREE,SAVE_MONEY, SAVE_THOUSANDS,SPAM_PHRASE_08_13,SUB_FREE_OFFER, SUSPICIOUS_RECIPS,USER_AGENT_OE,WEIRD_PORT, X_MSMAIL_PRIORITY_HIGH,X_PRIORITY_HIGH Fortunately in this case the message had a really high score anyway, but a lot of messages are getting through that should have much higher scores because of being on RBLs.
