I'm a heavy pine user & both webmail and OS X's mail.app display certain
messages this garbled way.

I dropped 'use_terse_report = 0' into my personal user_prefs file, but it
didn't seem to make any difference.

I'm confused because the messages came through fine when calling
spamassassin directly, but only broke when I started using spamc.

I dunno - any more ideas?
