It is easy to bash the drive you have that has failed.  But drives
fail regardless.  Whichever type of drive of which you have the most
is the type of drive that will have the most failures.  So far in my
cluster Maxtors have been the most reliable, Seagate in the middle and
WD being the worst.  But individual products in the line vary greatly
and this is no indication of quality.  I have a Fujitsu SCSI drive
from ten years ago that is still doing good service.

RAID and warrantees make disk arrays reliable.
