I've recently set up a mechanism for the automated building of Debian packages from CVS. It is my hope that this will allow more people to test out the latest version of SpamAssassin. In the past we've often had to release newer versions soon after a release to fix very serious, easily avoided bugs.
So, I encourage everyone to please consider testing out the latest packages, especially if you already run Debian unstable or testing -- it's so simple! Add the following line to your /etc/apt/sources.list: deb http://people.debian.org/~duncf/debian/ unstable main Run the following commands: apt-get update apt-get upgrade Voila. New SpamAssassin packages. These packages are run via a cron job at 09:30 UTC, so they should be available by about 09:40 UTC. They are set to reflect the latest CURRENT_CORPORA_SUBMIT_VERSION, which is tagged at 9:00 UTC (Justin, this is correct, right?) Minor disclaimers: Unfortunately, only the latest CVS package is available. If for some reason, the latest version of the CVS is broken, the package may still be built, but may not be functional. Sorry. Bug reports should not be submitted through the Debian BTS, but should be submitted directly to me, if it's a Debian packaging related problem. Otherwise, they should be reported at http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org -- Duncan Findlay
