Thanks for this reference. It mainly talks about a RedHat workaround, however. The workaround talks about making a change in the /etc/sysconfig/i18n file, but FreeBSD 4.0 (one of my spamassassin systems) doesn't have such a thing. Does anyone know what the corresponding workaround would be under FreeBSD 4.0? Specifically, I'm looking for the particular fix that will allow the locale change to be noticed by the system-wide spamd daemon under that OS ... preferably, without making any changes to any of the SpamAssassin code itself. Thanks in advance. > > On Thu, 2002-10-24 at 16:46, Hippo Man wrote: > > On Thu, Oct 24, 2002 at 09:12:52PM +0100, Justin Mason wrote: > > > > > > (cc'ed to ILUG) > > > > > > [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: > > > > > > > On RedHat 8.0, perl 5.8, SA 2.43 I get this error message often in my logs: > > > > > > > > Oct 24 13:37:09 blacktip spamd[24511]: Malformed UTF-8 character (unexpected > > > > continuation byte 0xa0, with no preceding start byte) in transliteration (tr/ > > > > //) > > > > at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.1/Mail/SpamAssassin/EvalTests.pm line 1787, > > > > <STDIN> line 199. > > > > > > > > Any ideas on this? > > > > > > I'm pretty sure it's a bug in redhat's version of perl.
