Just autowhitelist the guy.  In your ~/.spamassassin/user_prefs (or
wherever your user_prefs file is located), add this line:

whitelist_from [EMAIL PROTECTED]

or if you might get mail from more than one person:

whitelist_from *@trendmls.com

When starting with any new version of SA, it is sometimes is good to
temporarily raise your threshold to a safer level (perhaps 8) and leave
it there until you've added most of the rule tweaks needed to reduce
your false-positives.  While I'm breaking it in, I look at any non-spam
message that scores above 3.5 or so and tweak my user_prefs to lower it
a bit.  Usually, whitelist does the job, but I have five personal rules
as well.

I think it's also a good idea to always check your spam folder (if you
have one) from time to time, but really important to check it once a day
while breaking in a new version.
