do so and fake an e-mail by hand...  ie:


telnet somemailhost 25

mail from: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

rcpt to: <somevaliduser@somevalidsmtpserver>


and see what it returns...

just don't get to data..  and EOF or it'll actually send the mail....


or post a snippet from /var/log/mailog (or where ever your mail is logged to 
-- grep mail /etc/syslog.conf)
