Hi Joe,

I am the network admin for a fairly large school district. We have some 5000+ users
and at least 2000 of them use our email system. Our network configuration, like so
many other school districts, is largely based on Novell Netware. Our email system is
Novell's Groupwise. Groupwise's inability to filter incoming email is the reason we
searched for alternatives. I created one email gateway using Qmail,
Qmail-Queue-Scanner, Sophos anti-virus, and SpamAssassin. It was rather easy to build
using Milton Sullivan's instructions. From the first day it was brought online, it
stopped 10,000 incoming email messages using realtime blackhole lists, and another
500-1000 are marked as spam by SpamAssassin.

The linux solution has been rock solid for 3 weeks now, exchanging 4000-5000 messages
per day. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a reliable and inexpensive spam
filtering solution.

Now that may not be the kind of info you were looking for, but I hope it helps.

Ein B.

Hi,

I am very sorry to keep bugging this list but I am getting some more
questions asked about SpamAssassin. Does any one know of mid-large
companies that use SpamAssassin? We have approx. 1200 email users and they
want to know if larger organizations use this. And if anyone has some
information you think would help me build my case for using SpamAssassin
please email me.

Thanks

Joseph Harnish
