Personally, I'd rather not see them differentiated. (and, I'm going to
assume that "commercial" means "advertisement", and not things like tech
support information, and transaction updates, and things like that)

For one, the difference is entirely subjective and personal taste. For
example, for me, there is no such thing as solicited commercial email.
All commercial email is spam, IMO. I understand not everyone agrees with
me, but that's my stance. If the mail is heading into my maildrop, and it's
a commercial, it's spam.

The only grey area for me is things like yahoo lists, where there is an
advertizement inside an otherwise acceptable email message. I'd filter
that out before SA gets it, if I could. But I don't think mailscanner
provides me with an easy way to do that. I suppose I could switch to
using SA directly in my .forward though.

The other "problem" with filtering spam isn't so much a grey area, as it is
an annoying detail. I get spammed by Amazon and Ebay all the time, but I
also get legitimate messages from them (order and bid confirmations). So,
I can't just blacklist the entire site ... but I don't want to whitelist
them either. I just get tired of yet another "we think we've made a great
book suggestion, check it out!" message.
