You don't need license code you own to yourself.  If you own the code,
you can do whatever you want.

If you can't control the distribution, you can't ensure anything.

There also are/were many people who resented Sun and other companies
taking BSD code private and never releasing back their contributions.
At least with the GPL, there's a clear legal contract that derivative
works (that are not kept local) must remain free.  With the BSD
license, all you can do is complain and hope.
