I see similar effects, though only on a couple of mailing lists. These are, however, the highest traffic mailing lists I get, so it /could/ just be chance. I run SMTP to Postfix, with a content filter there, then Postfix local delivery. There is *NO* involvement of procmail in the process, nor is there *any* disk checkpointing during the run of SpamAssassin.
