i have something that's both a question and a request... from what i've
seen in the archives, it's not terribly easy to install spamassassin
without root access.

has anyone done this easily? i haven't tried extensively, but i have
adjusted the Makefile so that the prefix is ~/bin/ but it still tries to
put some stuff in the site-wide perl directories. i messed with the
Makefile a bit more, but i'm not sure if spamassassin would still work
then...

i think there should be an easy way to install into your home dir and
have the install process add a 'use lib /home/you/perl' or something for
the actual modules.

is there any reason this wouldn't work?

i'd like to be able to (easily) install spamassassin on machines that i
don't have root access on, or if i simply don't want to install it
machine-wide (ie if i want to install it for a particular user, or if i
want the same installation to be common over several different machines
with their home directories mounted via NFS.

in any event, any comments on how to do this, or reasons why it's not
possible to make it simpler would be greatly appreciated.
