Hi,
I just want to report some findings I have found. I was having
trouble with spamass-milter on FreeBSD. It would lockup if two messages
where sent through sendmail at the same time. After a lot of testing to see
is was a problem in Spamassassin or the spamass-milter I think I have
narrowed it down (and found a working solution).

Since MIMEDefang has now been changed to work with SA 2.01 I thought
I would give it a try instead of spamass-milter. I'm still using SA 2.01
and have trimmed back MIMEDefang so that it doesn't do anything but act as a
milter for SA. It works great. I have been able to hit it with multiple
emails at the same time without a lockup. On my test server (a PIII 500
with 384Megs ram) I can see about 90 messages/sec with a load average around
2.5 Still a little higher than I would like but I haven't tuned it for
performance yet (aside from using mimedefang-multiplexor).

It looks like the problem was with the spamass-milter. I still
think the processing of spamass-milter would be the faster way to go (no
disk access) if it was fixed to solve this problem.
