I am the one who did up the 2.01 FreeBSD port. I hope to get the
spamass-milter port done soon but I just arrive back from a weeks vacation
so I will be playing catch-up over the new couple of days.
This is the same problem I am seeing using the milter filter setup.
I was working on this problem with Craig a few weeks ago but then it was
interrupted with my vacation plans. Now that I am back I will look into it
some more.
Here is what I have so far..... spammass-milter, spamd, spamc works
great even under load until I see who jobs come through at the same time. I
can simulate this using an email benchmark utility called 'postal' (it's in
the FreeBSD ports collection). If I run one copy of the utility it will
work without any hangs. If I run two copied then spamc/spamd seems to hang.
I think it's a race condition. More to due with the timing of the spawned
processes than the volume of email.
I don't currently have ktrace compiled into my kernel. I will
compile a kernel with ktrace support today and see if I can get any more
detailed traces.
Any information you have on this problem would help.

Compiled/installed sendmail-sasl (sendmail 8.12+milter), installed
spamassassin from ports, which is 2.01, and installed spamass-milter from
sourceforge ... got everything configured and running ... works like a
charm ... but ...
After processing several messages, it just appear to 'hang' ...

Restarting spamass-milter appears to fix the problem ... but that
appears to also be a dead-code project on sourceforge :( Is there
something else I can/should be doing?
