The setup you are describing is exactly like mine (except different OS). If you download the latest Q-S v1.10 it will automatically detect Spamassassin and add it as an another scanner. So this means that you must have Spamassassin loaded before hand. Read the FAQ http://qmail-scanner.sourceforge.net/FAQ.php which gives you some info. Q-S with SA will only tag the messages so that means that if you want to block the Spam you need to filter it further down in the delivery process.
