Sorry to be late in responding. I almost missed this message in my inbox. 

Please disregard the Tomcat 1.4 recommendation. SJ should work on the latest 
version of Tomcat with no problem--or on any servlet engine for that matter.

Basic installation question Very basic...

SJ looks ideal for my needs and I am keen to try it by installing the server on 
a Debian box that is already running apache and Java (For our Jira issue 
tracking system)

Quick start says download and install jakarta tomcat 1.4.x – but the link 
provided takes me to a page with tomcat 6.x or 5.x – not 1.4.x??
