I don't think that's the cause. I can open the .source.jam files. I believe what Windows does not tolerate is a filename with just extension, because if it hided its extension (as it does by default), then the shown filename would be empty.
The point is that SJ cannot remember (nor use) the configuration that I enter in the advanced properties panel. If you type something in the un/hide files command fields, close the client and reopen it, does what you had written appear in the fields?
