I reverted the change. I had tested it on x86_64, and it worked well there. The issue I was trying to fix is that upstream binutils requires GNU make to build, and we have local patches to convert the GNU-style makefiles to BSD-style makefiles. This deviates from what upstream distributes and thus increases the risk that our local changes break something. I don't have a specific "something" in mind, its just the principle to have as few local patches as necessary. Since both GNU make and BSD make are available in the tools build, I didn't see a need to have 500 lines of patches just to use BSD make instead of GNU make. Roland
