make: fix memory leak when parsing a variable name
To trigger the memory leak, the expanded variable name must not be a
prefix of the textual variable name.
textual name expanded name
ok: UNDEF.${undef} UNDEF.
leak: UNDEF.${undef}. UNDEF..
