Yesterday, the #NEWPALMYRA project launched a new online community platform and data repository dedicated to the capture, preservation, sharing, and creative reuse of data about the ancient city of Palmyra. Furthermore, the collected data will be released into the public domain under a Creative Commons Zero license at NewPalmyra.org. We, along with MIT Media Lab, EFF, Mozilla, and others are listed as supporters. On their landing page, you can download the Temple of Bel 3D model and it includes a call for participation, specifically asking users to contribute info and media about Palmyra to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia.
