I like the "On this day" framing for the Sydney Opera House. I think our followers would find Calico Jack interesting because of we can credit him with the iconic Jolly Roger flag:
"He is most remembered for two things: the design of his Jolly Roger <https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jolly_Roger> flag, a skull with crossed swords, which contributed to the popularization of the design." Sadly, the flag is not in the public domain: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Jolly_Roger#/media/File:Calico_jack_pirate.png But his image is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calico_Jack?utm_content=buffer409ed&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer#/media/File:Rackham,Jack.JPG On Mon, Oct 19, 2015 at 3:53 PM, Jeff Elder <[email protected]> wrote: > On this day in 1720, the British Royal Navy captured Calico Jack, a > Caribbean pirate whose crew included 2 women. http://buff.ly/1jxLMVy > > On this day in 1973, the Sydney Opera House in Australia officially > opened.
