Hello Everyone,

We just published "Open Badges for editor retention" to the blog. URL:

Thanks to John, Sara, and Andre for writing this post and helping us edit.

Below are some proposed social media messages. Please tweak as needed.

• Could #OpenBadges make a difference for editor retention on @Wikimedia's
projects? @WikimediaSE thinks so! (link)

*Facebook/Google+*

• Open Badges are new digital credentials that can recognize an editor's
achievements on a variety of websites -- not just on Wikipedia. They can be
a powerful tool for engaging more contributors. During the Wikimedia
Hackathon in Lyon, a few important steps were taken to make them a reality
on projects powered by MediaWiki. (link)

• During the Wikimedia Hackathon in Lyon, further steps were taken to make
an extension for Open Badges on MediaWiki a reality. The hope is that such
an extension will increase editor retention and interest to contribute on
Wikimedia's projects as they can highlight their achievements in other
settings. (link)

Thanks,
