The student application period for the Google Summer of Code has started since March 29th, but there is still time: the deadline is Friday, April 9th at 19:00 UTC. If you are a mentor or are in some way in contact with potential applicants, tell them to go submit drafts of all their Debian proposals ASAP, show up on #debian-soc on irc.debian.org and we'll work on it. Remember that the number of students we are granted is partially proportional to the number of student proposals we get!
