How to setUp a Visual Basic Client to talk to Apache Service

Can anyone please tell me how to set up a Visual Basic Client that will communicate with a java service.  Do i have to create a dll and what are the proper libraries i should include.  I am running on Windows 98.  I have a java client and server communicating but i cannot get the vb client to do this. I would be greatful if some body could give me some sample code and steps to do this.   Thanks in advance NigelMcPartland
