Not all packages in pkgsrc build on every platform. With 20,000 packages and 23 supported platforms, there will always be some software that doesn't build. Firefox is in pkgsrc because it builds fine on NetBSD and others, even though not on illumos currently. We perform bulk builds of everything, both for releases as well as daily builds of pkgsrc trunk. These can be viewed to see what doesn't build along with a logfile showing why. For example, for 2017Q4 64-bit the latest bulk build is here: http://us-east.manta.joyent.com/pkgsrc/public/reports/2017Q4/x86_64/20180502.1451/meta/report.html Some of the packages in this list are very easy to fix, some are more difficult, and some will never work because they only target specific platforms. Going through these lists and fixing the low hanging fruit is a great way to get involved in developing on illumos (it's how I started) and ensures more software is available for everyone to use. -- Jonathan Perkin - Joyent, Inc. - www.joyent.com ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
