I recently got an Toshiba 4TB external USB disk. smartmoontools lists an
unrecognized USB ID; my install's USB ids must be out of date since lsusb
just says:
"Bus 001 Device 002: ID 0480:d011 Toshiba America Info. Systems, Inc. "
(i.e. it recognizes the brand but not the device really.) usb.ids
online has the device d011 listed as Canvio disk.
The short of it, this enclosure -- USB ID 0480:d011 -- shows the
serial number, make, and model of the *enclouse* with "-d scsi" and proper
S.M.A.R.T. information of the drive itself given "-d sat". Also I didn't
know "-x" shows a temperature graph... it appears Toshiba may be pushing it
a tad on the drive temps.
Anyway, please find attached:
smartctl.txt -- this is "sudo smartctl -x /dev/sdc"
smartctl-scsi.txt -- "sudo smartctl -x -d scsi /dev/sdc"
smartctl-sat.txt -- "sudo smartctl -x -d sat /dev/sdc"
Thanks!
